Cloud System Engineer

Design, operate, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot BFA’s cloud network and infrastructure setup in the USA. The platform is built on open source platform to provide business social network and B2B ecommerce platform for doing business in Africa.

• The person will be in charge of infrastructure and system build operations and security.
• Responsible for the staging, piloting, and full deployment of releases to production in a DevOps environment.
• Responsible for modern cloud architecture design and implementation: IaaS, PaaS, Bare Metal as a Service, VPS hosting, etc.
• Oversee and perform reviews of specifications, schematics, layouts, test plans, and results;
• Act as a center focal point to coordinate with development teams (backend, front-end, database, APIs, Microservices, etc.) from different countries.
• Work with with hosting service providers; roll out new server technologies and automation system to provide BFA with increased efficiency and customer service;
• Manage, monitor, secure, and maintain BFA’s infrastructure and systems;
• Manage/maintain all physical/virtual/cloud instances (VPS hosting, Virtualization, Containers, KVM, VPS, Windows Linux, etc.)
• Perform detailed database management (MySQL, SQL, noSQL or future DBs);
• Perform security logging and mitigation; and deal with breaches/malware/attacks into network and/or system.

Other responsibilities include :

• Remote working involves working hours outside of normal work hours (different time zones)
• Scheduling pilot and deployment dates in international time-zones
• Organize technical meetings
• Submitting activity requests for approval to deploy.
• Working on multiple networks and systems.
• Coordinating pilots for all appropriate platforms.
• Identifying risks and deficiencies, gathering requirements, performing R&D, performing testing and quality assurance (QA), and providing releases and implementations.
• Providing recommendations for engineering solutions.

Requirements :

• Linux system admin expert
• Experience in cloud environment: AWS, Google Azure, and/or other hosting environment
• Experience in virtualization, container, and other open source environment
• Experience in system engineering, application deployment, and cloud, windows, Linux environment and skill in scripting and shell programming.
• Familiar with Agile development and Devops, and possess technical problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Experience in automation tool(s) and scripting, hands on experience with test tools.
• Engineers must have the ability to translate customer and system requirements into test cases in a Linux, Windows, AWS, Java, and scripting environment.
